Disconnecting Old Services

Disconnecting Old Services

A simple guide to ensure a smooth transition.

If you have recently moved your phone numbers and/or your domain name away from your old service provider, your phone calls, website, and email are no longer working through them.

To avoid being billed for services you no longer use, you must contact your old provider to disconnect them.

This process should be straightforward, but it might take a couple of months to be fully resolved in their accounting system. This is because most companies bill you for line charges in advance and for usage in arrears. This means you may be owed a credit on your final bill for any service you prepaid but didn’t use. Assuming you don’t have a long-term contract, this process is generally easy.

Disconnection Process

Follow these simple steps to disconnect your service:

1.

Retrieve your last bill from your old service provider.

2.

Locate the customer service number and your account number on the bill.

3.

Call their customer service line.

4.

Tell the representative that your company has recently moved services away from them and that you need to disconnect the service.

Getting Assistance from Metropark

Our Vendor Consolidation Program (VCP) Team can help you with this process. However, because we are not employees of your company, your old provider may not be willing to disconnect the services. This could leave you in their billing system for another cycle, which we agree would be a bad thing.

If you need our assistance, please contact your project manager or customer account manager.
